Lucknow: In view of the excellent work of India Literacy Board in the field of literacy, the Government of India recognized it as State Resource Centre in the year 1978-79. The achievements made by India Literacy Board through its State Resource Centre in the literacy programme run in the state from the year 1978-79 till date through its technical and academic services are as follows:-
The State Resource Centre, Uttar Pradesh has trained about 55,500 literacy workers from India and abroad by completing about 80 types of training programmes in the field of adult education.
33 types of training manuals, teaching aids as well as 37 sets of basic literacy material for illiterates have been prepared for the training programmes.
349 books have been written on various subjects and about 250 books have been published keeping in view the interests and needs of neo-literates. ऽ For creation of literature for neo-literates and beneficiaries having limited reading ability, 876 writers have been trained in various genres of adult education literature writing through simple writing training camps through 44 training camps, who are specially writing in the field of adult education and literacy.

State Resource Center, Uttar Pradesh has conducted 48 research evaluation and appraisal studies in the field of adult education and literacy.
In the year 2002-03, as per the instructions of the Government of India, a total of 24,38,234 illiterate women were made literate by successfully conducting the ‘Twitter Women Literacy Program’ in 08 districts of the state.
New literates, especially women, were made literate in a short period by organizing computer-based functional literacy camps.
Under the Interpersonal Media Campaign (IPMC), 259 master trainers of 16 districts were trained.
The target of 100% literacy was achieved in 28 Sansad Adarsh Grams of 16 districts of the state.
Orientation and refresher training of 134 district coordinators/block coordinators and 309 motivators of 66 districts was organized under the legal literacy program sponsored by the Department of Justice, Government of India.
Promotion through Rath Yatra in 28 MP Model Villages of 15 districts under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana.
12,145 bank accounts were opened in 28 MP Model Villages of 15 districts under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana.
94,042 neo-literates were covered under insurance protection in 93 MP Model Villages of the state under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana. From the year 2018 to the year 2023, about 4,500 illiterates were made literate by operating literacy centers in various districts of Uttar Pradesh such as Unnao, Sitapur, Bahraich and Lucknow Municipal Corporation Ward.
In the current financial year 2024-25, the State Resource Center, Uttar Pradesh has set a target of making 1240 illiterate women and men literate by operating a total of 62 literacy centers in District Bahraich, Prayagraj, Unnao and local Municipal Corporation area. It is a matter of great joy that today on 8 September, 2024, on the occasion of International Literacy Day, the operation of all these 62 literacy centers is being started simultaneously.
