Lucknow | Lucknow Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar on Wednesday conducted an inspection of the under-construction Animal Birth Control (ABC) Training Centre at Zarhara and reviewed ongoing works at the Amausi ABC Centre. During the visit, he examined the quality of construction in detail and directed officials to expedite the completion of all pending works.
The Commissioner emphasized that all projects related to animal birth control are among the top priorities of the Lucknow Municipal Corporation and must be completed within the stipulated timeframe. He stated that these initiatives are essential for the scientific management and humane control of stray animals in the city.
Gaurav Kumar instructed officials to ensure that all construction activities adhere strictly to quality standards and transparency norms to avoid any future complaints related to workmanship or durability. He stressed that the Zarhara ABC Training Centre will play a pivotal role in providing technical training and strengthening the city’s animal welfare infrastructure.

On the occasion of Gopashtami, the Commissioner also inspected the Radha Upvan Gaushala located at Zarhara. He reviewed the facilities available for the cattle, interacted with staff, and personally fed jaggery to the cows. He further directed officials to construct additional tin sheds wherever necessary to ensure that all cattle receive adequate shelter, especially during adverse weather conditions.
The inspection reflects the Municipal Corporation’s commitment to improving urban animal welfare management, enhancing ABC infrastructure, and promoting a compassionate approach toward stray and shelter animals in Lucknow.
