Lucknow: Inspired by the Vice-Chancellor of Lucknow University, Prof. Alok Kumar Rai, the Department of Oriental Studies is organizing a camp at Maha Kumbh, Prayagraj. This camp has been running since January 13, 2025.
On Republic Day, a flag-hoisting ceremony was also conducted at the camp. The event saw the participation of the Head of the Department, Dr. Prerna Mathur, Dr. Shyamlesh Tiwari, students, and various distinguished guests.
Every evening, the students perform the sacred Maa Ganga Aarti, which attracts numerous devotees who witness this spiritual moment.
The camp receives around 150 to 200 visitors daily, who actively participate in discussions on scriptures and Vedic traditions. Students of the Department of Oriental Studies educate visitors about Indian culture and the significance of Maha Kumbh with great devotion. Special arrangements are made to welcome and honor all guests, ensuring the promotion and preservation of India’s rich cultural heritage.
The Lucknow University camp at Prayagraj remains dedicated to spreading the wisdom of India’s cultural legacy. This initiative will continue until February 26, during which scholars will hold in-depth discussions on various classical subjects, conduct Vedic rituals, and organize ceremonial yajnas, all led by the participating students.
