Lucknow Police Marks 12th International Yoga Day with Mass Yoga Session at Reserve Police Lines

Lucknow: The 12th International Day of Yoga was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Reserve Police Lines in Lucknow on Sunday, with senior officers and police personnel participating in a large-scale collective yoga session under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”

Organized by the Lucknow Police Commissionerate, the event aimed to promote physical fitness, mental well-being, and a disciplined lifestyle among members of the police force. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from officers and personnel across various ranks.

The yoga session was led by trained instructors who guided participants through a series of yoga postures, breathing exercises, and meditation techniques. Police personnel practiced Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Bhujangasana, Vajrasana, Anulom-Vilom, Kapalbhati, and meditation, reinforcing the importance of yoga in maintaining overall health and balance.

The event was led by Amrendra Kumar Sengar, Commissioner of Police, Lucknow. Joining him were Aparna Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime and Headquarters), and Bablu Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), along with other senior officers, gazetted officers, and a large number of police personnel.

Addressing the gathering, speakers emphasized that yoga is much more than a form of physical exercise. It was described as a holistic way of life that helps individuals achieve physical fitness, mental clarity, emotional stability, and a positive outlook. Participants were encouraged to incorporate yoga into their daily routines to improve their overall quality of life.

Speaking on the occasion, Police Commissioner Amrendra Kumar Sengar highlighted yoga as an invaluable part of India’s cultural heritage that strengthens individuals physically, mentally, and spiritually. He noted that for police personnel working in demanding and high-stress environments, regular yoga practice can play a vital role in stress management, enhancing efficiency, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

The programme was organized with the objective of raising awareness about healthy living among police personnel and encouraging them to adopt yoga as a regular practice. Participants also took a pledge to continue practicing yoga and promote its benefits within their families and communities.

The International Yoga Day celebration at the Reserve Police Lines concluded on a positive and inspiring note, reflecting the Lucknow Police Commissionerate’s commitment to the health and well-being of its workforce. The event successfully reinforced the message that yoga is a powerful tool for achieving physical fitness, mental resilience, and healthy ageing.
