18-year-old Assam-born singer enters the independent music scene with an English dance-pop single released by Viamonk Records
Mumbai: Emerging singer Tanishq Poddar has made his debut in the Indian independent music scene with I’ll Stay Quiet, an English-language dance-pop and electronic dance music (EDM) single created in collaboration with Bollywood composer and music director Sumeet Bellary. The track was released worldwide on October 9 through Viamonk Records.
Driven by energetic electronic beats and shimmering synth textures, the song combines the pulse of a dance anthem with a more introspective emotional theme. Designed to appeal to contemporary pop listeners, it balances an upbeat sound with a personal narrative.
“There’s a version of this song that’s been in my head for a while now, and it feels surreal to finally put it out into the world,” Poddar said. “I didn’t want my first release just to sound good; I wanted it to feel like me.”
The 18-year-old singer from Assam sees the single as the starting point of a broader musical journey. He intends to explore different sounds and develop an artistic identity through future releases.
“‘I’ll Stay Quiet’ is where it starts. It’s just the beginning, and there’s a lot more I want to say through my music,” he added.
The debut brings Poddar together with Bellary, whose Bollywood credits include Fuddu, Fukrey Returns, Chhatriwali and Fukrey 3. Bellary has also worked on independent releases spanning contemporary pop and folk-inspired music, including Suhe Ve Vibe, Mere Naal, Tu Hi Pyaar Hai Sahiba and the traditional folk track Kala Doria.
Speaking about the collaboration, Bellary said Poddar arrived with a clear idea of the song’s direction, making the creative process enjoyable.
“The song has a hook that stays with you and a feeling that’s honest, and that’s a rare combination in a debut. I’m excited for people to hear where he’s starting from,” Bellary said.
Trained in both Indian and Western vocal traditions, Poddar brings a blend of technical training and an expressive vocal style to contemporary pop. His music aims to reflect youthful experiences and personal emotions, with the debut offering an introduction to his approach as an emerging artist.
With I’ll Stay Quiet, Poddar enters a competitive independent music landscape, beginning his journey with a collaboration that combines a new voice with the experience of an established Bollywood composer.
