Lucknow: In preparation for the upcoming Women’s Premier League (WPL) matches scheduled for March 3, 6, 7, and 8, 2025, at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium, a crucial meeting was convened. The meeting was chaired by District Magistrate Vishak G. and attended by officials from Ekana Stadium, event organizers, BCCI representatives, and UPCA officials. The District Magistrate provided key directives to ensure the successful organization of the matches.
The District Magistrate instructed that all security protocols must be strictly followed. Coordination between district administration and stadium authorities should be seamless to ensure a well-organized event, allowing both players and spectators to have a positive experience.
Key Directives Issued During the Meeting:
- Structural Safety Audit: The Public Works Department (PWD) must conduct a structural safety audit of the stadium and its surrounding areas and issue a certification ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Cleanliness and Parking Facilities: The Municipal Corporation was directed to work jointly with the Ekana Stadium team to ensure proper cleanliness in the stadium’s external areas. Adequate drinking water arrangements must also be made in the parking zones.
- Sanitation and Water Supply: The Water Supply Department must ensure water tankers are available in parking areas and outside the stadium. The Municipal Corporation must arrange for proper sanitation, including mobile toilets.
- Food Safety Measures: The Food Safety Department was instructed to deploy teams for food sampling both inside and outside the stadium. These teams must be briefed on food safety measures and conduct timely inspections. Additionally, the quality of food and beverages sold by designated vendors inside the stadium must be checked.
- Medical and Emergency Services: The Chief Medical Officer of Lucknow was directed to coordinate with event organizers to ensure that ambulances equipped with life-saving medicines are stationed at major entry gates during match days. Two medical camps must be set up near the stadium’s main entry points, staffed with paramedics and specialized doctors. The UPCA and event organizers must also deploy medical teams inside the stadium and alongside the participating teams.
- Cleanliness and Control Room Setup: The stadium administration was instructed to maintain cleanliness throughout the premises. Additionally, a dedicated control room must be established to ensure interdepartmental coordination during the event.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Magistrate (Eastern) Amit Kumar, Additional District Magistrate (Finance & Revenue) Rakesh Singh, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Sarojininagar Dr. Sachin Verma, Additional Municipal Commissioner, DCP South Nipun Aggarwal, and other departmental officials.
