Mumbai: Speaking on JioHotstar’s “Champions Waali Commentary”, former India cricketer and JioStar expert Irfan Pathan highlighted the impressive form of Lucknow Super Giants’ left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan in the ongoing Indian Premier League, while also stressing that fitness remains the key factor in his international future.
Pathan praised Mohsin’s ability to make an impact during crucial phases of the game, especially his knack for breaking partnerships while maintaining tight control over runs. He pointed out that Mohsin has already delivered multiple maiden overs this season, including wicket-taking spells that reflect his growing confidence and precision.
Highlighting his recent performances, Pathan noted that Mohsin’s disciplined bowling plans against batters like Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Tim Seifert have paid off, with the bowler effectively combining accuracy with movement to trouble opposition batters even when runs are taken in the over.
He further observed that Mohsin’s left-arm angle, height, and ability to extract extra bounce make him a difficult bowler to face, especially when he maintains a good length. According to Pathan, Mohsin has been among the most economical bowlers this season on deliveries pitched in the ideal length area, making him particularly valuable in pressure situations.
However, Pathan also underlined the recurring concern around Mohsin’s fitness. He remarked that injuries have interrupted the pacer’s progress in the past, largely due to the physical demands of his bowling action. A previous injury had also sidelined him for a significant period, though he credited the support system at the Lucknow franchise for helping him recover and return stronger.
Concluding his assessment, Pathan said that if Mohsin Khan can maintain consistent fitness, his skill set is strong enough to push him into contention for India’s international squad, adding that injuries remain the only major barrier in an otherwise promising career trajectory.
