In IPL opener Lucknow Super Giants misses the bull’s eye

Jaipur: In the fourth match of the Indian Premier League 2024, Lucknow Super Giants (RR vs LSG) faced Rajasthan Royals. The match was played at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Rajasthan’s home ground, Jaipur. In this match, Rajasthan Royals defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 20 runs. Sanju Samson was the real hero of Rajasthan Royals’ victory.

Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson won the toss and decided to bat first against Lucknow Supergiants. On the basis of Sanju Samson’s unbeaten inning of 82 runs, Rajasthan gave a target of 194 runs to Lucknow.

Batting first, Naveen Ul Haq gave the initial blow to Rajasthan Royals, when he got Jos Buttler (11) caught out by wicketkeeper KL Rahul. Yashasvi Jaiswal (24) played some attractive strokes, but he returned to the dugout after being caught by Krunal Pandya at mid-on off the ball of Mohsin Khan.

Samson’s first half-century

From here captain Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag (43) took over the innings of the Royals. Both of them made a partnership of 93 runs for the third wicket and took the team to a strong score. Sanju Samson meanwhile scored his first half-century against Lucknow Supergiants. He completed his fifty in 33 balls.

Naveen Ul Haq prevented Parag from completing his half-century by getting him caught out by substitute player Deepak Hooda. Parag scored 43 runs in 29 balls with the help of 1 four and three sixes. Then Ravi Bishnoi gave the fourth blow to the Royals by getting Shimron Hetmyer (5) caught out by wicketkeeper Rahul. From here, Samson-Dhruv Jurail (20*) made a partnership of 43 runs to take the Royals to a respectable score.

Naveen Ul Haq took maximum two wickets for Lucknow Supergiants. Mohsin Khan and Ravi Bishnoi got one wicket each.

KL-Puran’s half-century innings went in vain

Chasing 194 runs, Lucknow Super Giants had a very bad start. Lucknow team had lost three wickets on the score of 11 runs. Quinton de Kock (4) and Devdutt Padikkal (0) were out on runs. Nandre Berger then got Ayush Badoni caught out by Butler. He too could score only 1 run. After this, KL Rahul along with Deepak Hooda took the responsibility of handling the team’s innings. However, Deepak Hooda also became the victim of Chahar after scoring 26 runs.

After this, KL Rahul scored a stormy half-century. Facing 44 balls, Rahul scored 58 runs with the help of 4 fours and 2 sixes. Apart from him, Nicholas Puran scored unbeaten 64 runs facing 41 balls.

Lucknow needed 27 runs to win on the last six balls, but the team could score only 6 runs in this over. Then Nicholas Pooran and Krunal Pandya were at the crease.
