Lucknow — A shocking incident has emerged from the Naka police station area in the state capital, where a woman home guard has accused a woman constable of physical assault and verbal abuse for allegedly reporting late to duty. The complainant has registered a formal grievance at the DCP Central office, demanding strict action against the accused officer.
What Happened
Julie Sharma, the home guard in question who has been posted at the Naka police station since April, said she arrived at the station around 11 AM on Saturday instead of her scheduled time of 10 AM, due to personal reasons. On her arrival, the woman constable at the General Diary (GD) desk allegedly refused to mark her attendance, citing the delay.
Despite Julie apologizing and assuring that such a lapse would not happen again, the constable remained unyielding.
Verbal Abuse Escalates to Physical Assault
According to Julie, the situation escalated when Constable Neetu Singh, who was posted at the women’s help desk, began yelling at her. Neetu allegedly used offensive language and made derogatory comments about Julie’s “status” and position as a home guard.
Julie claims that when she objected to the abusive behavior, the constable resorted to physical violence, hurling expletives and attacking her in front of other police personnel.
Serious Allegations of Corruption
In her written complaint, Julie also alleged that the entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed at the police station. She has urged officials to review the footage to verify her claims.
Moreover, she levelled serious accusations of illegal money collection by the woman constable at the police outpost, further adding to the gravity of the situation.
Intervention and Complaint
Other police personnel reportedly intervened and diffused the situation before it got further out of hand. Following the incident, Julie proceeded directly to the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) and submitted a written complaint, calling for immediate investigation and disciplinary action.
Investigation Pending
At present, the complaint is under review, and no official statement has yet been issued by the concerned police department. However, the incident has raised serious questions about the internal conduct and treatment of subordinate staff within police stations.
If the CCTV footage is examined, it is expected that the truth will emerge soon, shedding light on the incident and potentially leading to accountability within the force.
