Heat action plan will be prepared by analysing the ground surface temperature

– Divisional Commissioner gave instructions to the officers in the meeting of Heat Action Plan held in Parijat Auditorium of Lucknow Development Authority

Lucknow:  Presentation of Heat Action Plan was done on the basis of study done in colonies and slums of Jodhpur and Thane Heat Action Plan meeting was held in Parijat Auditorium of Authority Bhawan on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Lucknow Development Authority Chairman/Divisional Commissioner Dr. Roshan Jacob. In this, Vice Chairman of Authority Prathamesh Kumar gave presentation of Heat Action Plan on the basis of study done in colonies and slums of Jodhpur and Thane.

In this, the Divisional Commissioner directed that a detailed action plan should be prepared by analysing the ground surface temperature of the city, so that long term better results can be obtained and the city residents can be saved from heat wave.

In the meeting, LDA Vice Chairman Prathamesh Kumar told that the measures taken to protect from heat wave in some colonies of Jodhpur and Thane have been studied. In this, solar reflective white paint was applied on the roof tops, outer walls and tin sheds of the buildings. Due to this, the temperature of the buildings fell even in the scorching heat of the afternoon and people got a lot of relief. Apart from this, many works were done regarding greenery in group housing and township, due to which good results were seen. Now, on the basis of this study, a heat action plan is being prepared by collecting data at the micro level in Lucknow.

In this regard, the Divisional Commissioner directed that short term, medium term and long term plans should be prepared for heat action by analyzing the ground surface temperature in the city. Under this, the work of building cooling stations at places sensitive to heat wave, getting solar reflective white paint done in multi-storey buildings and structures, etc. should be proposed. The Divisional Commissioner directed that whatever necessary steps are to be taken in view of protection from heat wave, increasing the green cover area, etc., LDA and Housing should together prepare a proposal for amendment in the building bylaws accordingly.

Apart from this, measures to prevent heat wave should be included in the planning of UPSCR for better long-term results. LDA Secretary Vivek Shrivastava, Chief City Planner KK Gautam, Executive Engineer Manoj Sagar and Sanjeev Kumar Gupta along with officials of Forest Department, Pollution Control Board, Meteorological Department, District Disaster Management Department and Health Department were present in the meeting.
