Gonda: Saraswati Devi Nari Gyanasthali PG College, Gonda, organised a grand Orientation Day for newly admitted students of B.A., B.Com. and M.A. first year, aiming to familiarise them with the institution’s mission, objectives, work culture and academic environment.
The programme began with Principal Dr Aarti Srivastava garlanding the idol of Goddess Saraswati and lighting the ceremonial lamp. Floral tributes were also paid to the statue of the college’s founder. Students from the Music Department presented a welcome song under the guidance of Dr Manisha Saxena and Jaya Tripathi.
Welcoming the new students, Dr Aarti Srivastava said the college was not merely a place to earn a degree but an institution dedicated to personality development. She encouraged students to identify and nurture their talents and work towards becoming self-reliant, confident and sensitive citizens who could contribute positively to their families and society.
Head of the English Department Dr Harpreet Kaur briefed the students about the college’s rules, procedures and academic functioning. Head of the Psychology Department Dr Seema Srivastava introduced the newly admitted students to faculty members from different departments as well as the non-teaching staff.
The programme also featured cultural performances. Under the guidance of Yoga Department teacher Samta Dhankani, students presented a lively parody-song dance performance that was warmly appreciated by the audience.
RJ Adnan introduced the students to the vocational Radio Jockey course offered by the college. Manager Dr Anandita Rajat explained various institutional rules and arrangements and advised students to use mobile phones responsibly. She said mobile technology could be an important educational tool when used constructively and urged students to avoid unnecessary or inappropriate use while maintaining the discipline and dignity of the institution.
An open-stage session was organised for the newcomers, giving them an opportunity to showcase their talents. Shaba Parveen, Shreya, Anshika, Sanjana, Ruchi Dubey, Shubhi Tiwari, Mahi Tiwari and Isha Srivastava, among others, impressed the audience with their singing and dancing performances. Their confident performances received enthusiastic applause from teachers and fellow students.
Members of the college management committee, Rekha Mohan and Roma Nigam, distributed certificates to students who had participated in the college’s personality development programme.
The event was conducted by English Department faculty member Monika Srivastava. It concluded with the Gyanasthali song followed by the national anthem.
