Free Sanitary Pad Corners Launched at Mahakumbh Mela for Women’s Health

Prayagraj: In an effort to make the Prayagraj Mahakumbh Mela more divine, grand, and hygienic, authorities have launched a new initiative aimed at safeguarding women’s health. The first “Free Sanitary Pad Corner” was inaugurated near the Central Hospital at the Parade Ground on Saturday, marking a significant step in ensuring health and hygiene for women attending the Mela.

With an estimated 40 crore devotees expected to visit the Mahakumbh Mela, around 50% of the attendees are expected to be women. The administration has made special provisions to ensure the health and well-being of these women during the Mela, especially in areas of hygiene and sanitation.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Dr. Kirtika Agarwal, a renowned gynecologist, and Dr. Vivek Mishra, Joint Director of Health, who cut the ribbon to officially launch the facility. They emphasized that the Free Sanitary Pad Corners will serve as a critical resource for women, especially in emergency situations during their stay at the Mela.

Dr. Agarwal, speaking at the event, highlighted the importance of maintaining cleanliness and hygiene for good health. She stated, “The Free Sanitary Pad Corner is a unique initiative aimed at protecting women’s health at the Mahakumbh Mela. Cleanliness is essential for good health, and this initiative will help ensure the well-being of women attending the Mela.”

Initially, six Free Sanitary Pad Corners have been set up in the Mahakumbh area, with plans to increase the number as the Mela progresses. These corners will be staffed by female workers available 24/7, offering free sanitary pads to women in need. The facility is part of a broader effort to create a safe and hygienic environment for all attendees of the Mela, ensuring that women’s health is prioritized throughout the event.
