20 Kilograms of Food Items Seized, 264 Kilograms of Material Destroyed
Gonda: Following directives from the Commissioner of Food Safety and Drug Administration, Uttar Pradesh (Lucknow), and guidelines from the District Magistrate of Gonda, the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department is conducting a comprehensive campaign to ensure that the general public has access to safe and quality food and beverages during the Raksha Bandhan festival season.
As part of this campaign, department officials have intensified inspections and sample collection across various areas of the district to effectively prevent the manufacture, storage, and sale of adulterated and unsafe food products.
Samples Collected from Multiple Areas
During the campaign, two samples of khoya (milk solids), one sample of paneer, and two samples of SMP (Skimmed Milk Powder) were collected from the Tulsipur Manja area. Samples of gulab jamun, barfi, and kalakand were collected from the Tarbagang block. Samples of chena sweets were taken from Srinagar and Babaganj, while peda, gulab jamun, and barfi samples were collected from Ragdganj. Ghee and flour samples were obtained from the Karnalgunj area, and a sample of rashari sweets was collected from Mankapur. A chena sweets sample was also gathered from the Parspur area. All samples have been sent for testing in accordance with regulations.
Campaign Results So Far
As part of the Raksha Bandhan special campaign being conducted by the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department, a total of 22 food product samples have been collected across the district to date. During the campaign, approximately 20 kilograms of food items have been seized, with an estimated value of around 10,000 rupees. Additionally, approximately 264 kilograms of food products, valued at approximately 60,000 rupees, have been destroyed.
Quality Assurance Priority
Department officials stated that providing safe food products to the public during the festival season is the department’s highest priority. There will be no compromise on the quality of food products. Strict action will be taken in accordance with regulations if adulteration or violations of food safety standards are found.
Ongoing Vigilance
Keeping the Raksha Bandhan festival in mind, inspections and sample collection activities will continue at food establishments, sweet shops, and other related locations. The department has also appealed to the general public to carefully check the quality, packaging, labeling, and other essential details when purchasing food items, and to report any suspected food products to the relevant department.
