Lucknow: In the heart of Lucknow, a sinister criminal nexus has been spinning a web of chaos with a modus operandi so cunning it’s left even seasoned cops scratching their heads. The Lucknow Police, under the steely gaze of Commissioner Amrendra Kumar Sengar, are burning the midnight oil to crack this elusive network wide open.
Recent busts have shone a spotlight on the masterminds pulling the strings. Take Ajay Dwivedi, an e-rickshaw driver with a rap sheet longer than a monsoon downpour—23 cases, including narcotics and theft. Alongside his brother Dinesh Dwivedi, who boasts 16 criminal charges, the duo orchestrated a chilling abduction, rape attempt, and murder of a 32-year-old woman in Malihabad. Ajay met his end in a fiery police encounter on March 21, while Dinesh now cools his heels behind bars. “They preyed on the vulnerable, exploiting trust,” said DCP (West) Vishwajit Shrivastava, recounting how the brothers lured their victim under the guise of a ride to Chinhat.
Then there’s the trio of Imran Ahmed (37), Niyaz (23), and Raju (43), nabbed on March 1 for plotting to kidnap a local businessman for a cool ₹10 lakh. Hired by a shadowy figure, Manish Agarwal from Bahraich, these seasoned crooks stalked their target for weeks, armed with pistols and a revolver. “We intercepted them at Lok Bandhu intersection—pure grit and timing,” a senior officer boasted, hinting at the relentless cat-and-mouse game unfolding on Lucknow’s streets.
The police aren’t just chasing shadows. From scanning 2,300 mobile numbers to bust a human trafficking ring on March 20—rescuing 3-year-old Ritik from Telangana—to foiling a terror plot by Babbar Khalsa’s Lajar Masih during Maha Kumbh, the force is doubling down. “These criminals think they’re clever, but we’re smarter,” DGP Prashant Kumar declared, vowing no stone unturned.
With zones being redrawn and special teams from east, west, and central Lucknow on high alert, the message is clear: the nexus may be crafty, but the cops are relentless. As Sengar puts it, “Lucknow sleeps safe because we don’t.” The battle rages on—gritty, gripping, and unrelenting.
