Cops help woman from Katihar reunite with family

Lucknow: Pooja Kumari, a resident of Katihar district in Bihar, who is seven months pregnant, fled to Lucknow after a disagreement with her husband. She was accompanied by her 6-year-old stepdaughter, the child of her husband’s first wife.

Upon arriving in Lucknow, Pooja Kumari found herself wandering from place to place. When Hussainganj police station received information about her situation, SI Gaurav Kumari immediately took action. The police ensured the young girl was cared for, providing her with food and new clothes.

During the investigation, further details were gathered, and the authorities safely transferred Pooja Kumari and her stepdaughter to the Lilavati Munshi Nirashrit Grah shelter at Thana Naka. The family was then informed of their whereabouts.

Shortly after, Pooja Kumari’s father-in-law, Premchand Singh, arrived in Lucknow, and she was handed over to him. Grateful for the swift and compassionate handling of the situation, Premchand Singh thanked the team at Hussainganj police station, including SI Gaurav Kumari, assistant constable Niharika, and constable Gaurav Kumar, for their commendable work.
