Lucknow: On the occasion of World Health Day 2025, a Basic Life Support (BLS) Workshop was organized at IMA Lucknow, jointly hosted by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Lucknow and the Department of Anaesthesiology, KGMU, Lucknow. The workshop, held on April 7, aimed at imparting essential lifesaving skills to participants for handling emergency medical situations.
The course was directed by Prof. Rajni Gupta, a certified BLS + ACLS instructor, who led the session with a focus on equipping attendees with the ability to respond effectively during critical emergencies such as cardiac arrest, breathing difficulties, and other life-threatening situations.
Dr. Sarita Singh, President of IMA Lucknow, welcomed all guests and participants, emphasizing the importance of such skill-based workshops in empowering people to act confidently during medical emergencies. Dr. Sanjay Saxena, Secretary, IMA Lucknow, highlighted the organization’s ongoing commitment to hosting similar initiatives in the future. “Workshops like these can go a long way in saving lives. We plan to conduct more of them to create wider public awareness and preparedness,” he said.
Dr. Monika Kohli, Head of the Anaesthesiology Department at KGMU, was present during the session, along with several key medical professionals including Dr. Manoj Kumar Asthana (President-Elect), Dr. Anil Kumar Tripathi (Vice President), and Dr. Alok Maheshwari.
Participants actively engaged in hands-on training during the workshop and expressed their appreciation, noting that the session had provided them with practical and potentially life-saving knowledge. They emphasized the significance of learning BLS techniques and how crucial such training is in real-life emergency scenarios.
The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks extended to all the attendees and dignitaries.
