Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the Ken Betwa Link Project on Monday, issuing key directives to the Department of Irrigation and Water Resources. He highlighted that an MoU has been signed between Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and the Government of India for this project, which aims to provide irrigation to 2.51 lakh hectares in Uttar Pradesh, benefiting Banda, Mahoba, Jhansi, and Lalitpur districts.
The project includes constructing a 21 km link channel in Uttar Pradesh, which requires 271 hectares of land acquisition. The Executive Engineer of the Ken Betwa Link Canal Construction Block 2 has been appointed as the nodal officer.
The Chief Minister suggested including Hamirpur district in the project’s benefits and instructed officials to expedite dam desilting. He also emphasized the need for a rubber dam near the Taj in Agra.
Noting the increased silt and current state of the Saryu River in Ayodhya, he proposed constructing a dam to mitigate future risks and recommended consulting IIT for expertise. He directed the officials to channel the Terai rivers and ensure coordinated efforts for river desilting.
