Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has stepped up efforts to resolve long-pending land consolidation cases and provide relief to farmers, with consolidation completed in 11 villages across eight districts. A special drive to dispose of undisputed inheritance and land mutation cases will run from October 15 to November 15, 2026.
Acting on the directions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Consolidation Commissioner Dr Hrishikesh Bhaskar Yashod has initiated measures to accelerate the disposal of pending cases and reduce delays in land-related disputes. Officials have also been directed to prioritise cases pending in consolidation courts for more than three years.

Among the villages where consolidation has been completed is Baisar in Maharajganj, where the process had remained pending for 18 years. Consolidation has also been completed in Bhikampur in Bulandshahr and Sikri Salis in Chitrakoot, where the process had been pending for 12 years. Other villages include Auradiha in Basti and Devalha in Pratapgarh, where the process had continued for two years.
Meanwhile, six villages across four districts have been excluded from the consolidation process under Section 6(1) of the Uttar Pradesh Consolidation of Holdings Act. These include Ajgawan, Pidna and Sadabad in Unnao, Magrasa in Bareilly, Baral in Bulandshahr and Kajipur (Girwan) in Banda. The processes in these villages had faced prolonged delays due to factors such as river erosion, limited cultivable land, inclusion in industrial development zones and local disputes.

During the month-long special drive, settlement officers have been instructed to ensure the timely disposal of undisputed inheritance and mutation cases. They must also certify that no such cases remain pending beyond the prescribed time limit.
The government has further directed consolidation officials to prioritise cases pending for more than three years and conduct inspections of courts, offices and land records. Inspection reports must be submitted within 15 days.
Officials found negligent in meeting the prescribed timelines may face accountability measures and action under applicable rules. The initiative aims to reduce land-related delays, improve access to government welfare schemes and provide farmers with greater certainty over their land records.
