Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh has achieved an installed solar capacity of 3,000 MW under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, emerging as the leading state in India under the scheme, said Tariq Hasan Naqvi, Chairman of Hikmaa Energies Pvt. Ltd. and Member of the Advisory Committee, Department of Infrastructure and Industrial Development, Government of Uttar Pradesh.
Naqvi was speaking as the chief guest at the C&I Clean Energy Meet organised by Mercom India at Hotel Hyatt, Lucknow, on October 9. The event was attended by Mercom India Managing Director Priya Sanjay, SIROI Foundation Chairman Saalim Naqvi and more than 100 potential commercial and industrial (C&I) customers.

Congratulating stakeholders for their contributions to the state’s clean energy transition, Naqvi highlighted the growing adoption of rooftop solar among households and businesses. He said commercial and industrial consumers in Uttar Pradesh had also installed more than 1,500 MW of solar capacity.

Expressing satisfaction over the progress, Naqvi said approximately 8.9 lakh households across Uttar Pradesh had installed rooftop solar systems. Lucknow alone accounted for around 1.5 lakh rooftop solar installations, reflecting the growing interest in solar energy among urban consumers.
The meet brought together industry stakeholders and prospective commercial and industrial consumers to discuss clean energy adoption and the expanding role of solar power in Uttar Pradesh’s energy landscape.
