Lucknow: The 279th Raising Day of the Defence Accounts Department was celebrated with enthusiasm at the Ramayan Auditorium of the Regional Training Centre in Lucknow on Thursday.
One of the country’s oldest departments functioning under the Ministry of Defence, the Defence Accounts Department marked the occasion with a series of cultural and sporting competitions. The celebrations also highlighted the department’s work culture, team spirit and commitment to social responsibility.

A week-long series of activities preceded the main ceremony, including the “Cleanliness is Our Responsibility” campaign, a seminar organised on the occasion of Ayurveda Day and a blood donation camp. Officers and employees from different sections of the department participated actively in these initiatives.
Former senior officers of the Indian Defence Accounts Service also attended the celebrations.
During the ceremony, Principal Controller of Defence Accounts Sanjay Kumar Chaudhary released the 18th edition of the department’s Hindi magazine, Raksha Lekha Bharti. A renovated cafeteria for officers and employees was also inaugurated.

Chaudhary addressed the gathering and felicitated participants who secured outstanding performances in various competitions by presenting them with awards.
The event was attended by senior officials including Mayank Bisht, Integrated Financial Adviser; Pushkaraj Bharti and Chandra Prakash, Additional Controllers; Himanshu Tripathi, Joint Integrated Financial Adviser; K. Haripreeti, Deputy Controller; and several Assistant Controllers and other officials.
The celebrations reflected the department’s long institutional legacy, team spirit and dedication to its responsibilities.
