Uttar Pradesh Emerging as New Hub for Renewable Energy Investment and Innovation: A.K. Sharma

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh is emerging as a major centre for investment and innovation in the renewable energy sector, Urban Development and Energy Minister A.K. Sharma said on Thursday, stressing the state’s vast potential in solar power, green energy, bioenergy and green hydrogen.

Sharma inaugurated the Lucknow edition of the ‘Invest, Innovate, Inspire’ roadshow of the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit and Expo-2026 at Taj Hotel, Lucknow. He said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India is providing new direction to the world in clean energy, while Uttar Pradesh, under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is playing an increasingly important role by promoting investment, innovation and new technologies.

The minister said Uttar Pradesh has significant opportunities for renewable energy investment and that the government is working to build an energy system capable of meeting growing demand while supporting environmental protection and economic development.

Highlighting India’s global clean-energy initiatives, Sharma referred to the launch of the International Solar Alliance by India and France in 2015. He said the initiative reflects India’s approach of advancing its own renewable energy goals while taking the international community along through cooperation in technology, investment, finance and expertise.

Sharma also called for greater cooperation among Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Uttarakhand to unlock new opportunities in clean energy. He urged industry representatives, investors, manufacturers, technology experts and other stakeholders to explore emerging opportunities and contribute to the region’s development.

Officials and representatives from the three states, along with investors, industry leaders and technical experts, participated in discussions on investment opportunities, technological innovation, future energy requirements and expansion of clean energy.

It was announced that the main Bharat Renewable Energy Summit and Expo-2026 will be held in November at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Manufacturers, investors, business representatives, energy experts, technical institutions and other stakeholders from India and abroad are expected to participate.
