Mumbai: Lucky Ali is one of the most recognisable names in Indian music and Bollywood. Beyond being a singer, he’s built a devoted fanbase as a songwriter and actor over the years. His soulful voice and distinct singing style have always had a calming, almost meditative quality to them, and his live concerts are just as beloved as his film songs. Now, though, the veteran singer has left fans emotional with a recent video.
A Video That’s Got Everyone Talking

Lucky Ali shared a clip from one of his live concerts on his Instagram handle, where he can be seen speaking to the audience about mortality — his own. At one point during the performance, he grew visibly emotional on stage, with tears welling up in his eyes.
In the video, Lucky Ali tells his fans how much he loves them, but adds that he’s well aware that death comes for everyone eventually. “I know, I love all of you too,” he said. “But one day I’ll have to go, won’t I? I’m not saying this to prepare you for it — honestly, I’m saying it because I’m prepared for it myself.”
He Carries His Own Shroud When He Travels

Lucky also revealed that he always carries his kafan — the ihram, the plain, unstitched white cloth worn by Muslim men during Hajj or Umrah — with him whenever he travels. He referred to the ihram as his shroud. “Whenever I travel, I travel with my ihram, which is my kafan,” he said. “Wherever I happen to die, just bury me there.”
The emotional clip has since gone viral on social media, striking a chord with fans. The comments section has been flooded with affection for the singer. One user wrote that his voice feels like home. Another asked him not to talk that way. A third fan wrote that he could never really leave — that he’ll always live on in their hearts.
A Legacy of Blockbuster Hits
Lucky Ali is the son of legendary comedian-actor Mehmood, and the second of his eight children. His song “Ek Pal Ka Jeena” was a massive hit and remains a fan favourite even decades later. He’s also lent his voice to other beloved tracks like “Gori Teri Aankhein Kahen” and “Na Tum Jaano Na Hum.” His timeless, evergreen singing style continues to have fans hooked to this day.
