Dial-112 Team Rushes to Spot, Saves Life of Man Drowning in Deep Water

Gonda: In yet another display of prompt action and sensitivity, the Dial-112 emergency service in Gonda district managed to save a man’s life after he was found drowning in deep water on Friday morning. The call came in around 8:00 AM on August 8, 2026, alerting the control room that a man was drowning in an area under Dhanepur police station and needed immediate help.

The moment the information was received, the Dial-112 control room passed on the details to the concerned PRV team and directed them to reach the spot without delay and take whatever action was necessary. PRV number 5643, operating in the Dhanepur police station area, responded instantly. Commander Constable Hridesh Singh Yadav and Home Guard driver Rakesh Tiwari, posted with the vehicle, set off for the location without wasting a moment and reached the spot in remarkably quick time to assess the situation.

On arriving at the scene, the police team found Khilawan Kori, son of Ram Teerath, a resident of Badhai Purwa under Dhanepur police station, struggling in deep water. Recognising how serious the situation was, the PRV personnel acted with what witnesses later described as extraordinary promptness, courage, and presence of mind, immediately launching a rescue effort. Without pausing to think of their own safety, but still taking the necessary precautions, the two men worked to pull the drowning man out of the water — and succeeded in bringing Khilawan Kori out safely.

It was this quick thinking and swift response from the police team that ultimately ensured a life was saved. Once he was brought to safety, officers made sure he was taken to a secure location, checked on his condition, and provided whatever assistance he needed.

Locals and bystanders who witnessed the rescue were quick to praise the team’s alertness and courage. Many pointed out that the way the PRV personnel responded — reaching the spot without any delay after receiving the Dial-112 alert and immediately beginning rescue efforts — reflects the strength of the police’s rapid response system and its genuine commitment to public service. Commander Constable Hridesh Singh Yadav and Home Guard driver Rakesh Tiwari, in particular, received widespread appreciation from local residents for their courage and humanity in the moment.

Gonda Police Appeal

With the monsoon season currently underway, Gonda Police has appealed to the public to exercise extra caution around rivers, drains, ponds, and other deep water bodies. People are urged to avoid unnecessary visits to waterlogged areas or spots with deep water, and to ensure children and elderly family members are never allowed to go near such places alone. In case of any emergency, citizens are advised not to panic and to immediately dial 112 for help. The police and PRV teams have assured that every possible effort will be made to reach the spot and provide assistance the moment a call is received.
