Newly Constructed PG Block Inaugurated at Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Degree College

Gonda: The newly constructed Postgraduate (PG) Block at Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Degree College, Gonda, was inaugurated at a grand ceremony attended by faculty members, students, management representatives and distinguished guests.

Gonda District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan, who was the chief guest, formally inaugurated the new building. The dignitaries were warmly welcomed with bouquets, mementoes and traditional angavastram. The college’s officiating Principal, Professor Jitendra Singh, welcomed the guests and outlined the objectives and significance of the programme.

Addressing the gathering, District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan said the new PG Block would mark a new chapter in the academic journey of the college. She emphasised that the purpose of higher education is not limited to awarding degrees but also involves developing knowledge, skills and a research-oriented outlook among students while preparing them to become responsible citizens.

She urged students to make maximum use of the academic resources available to them and remain committed to their goals. With dedication and continuous learning, she said, students could go on to become administrators, teachers, scientists, researchers, entrepreneurs and contributors to nation-building.

The District Magistrate also interacted directly with students and gave them an opportunity to raise their concerns. She subsequently issued necessary directions to the college administration regarding the resolution of the issues brought to her notice.

Speaking on the occasion, Varsha Singh, Vice-President of the college management committee, said the institution’s objective was not merely to provide curriculum-based education but to develop students into well-rounded individuals equipped with knowledge, values, discipline and a sense of social responsibility.

Management Secretary Umesh Shah said continuous efforts were being made to provide students with modern academic facilities and create an environment conducive to learning and overall development.

The programme was conducted by Professor Arvind Sharma, Head of the Department of Zoology, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Professor Aman Chandra, Chief Proctor of the college. The event concluded with the national anthem.

Students expressed enthusiasm over the opening of the new PG Block, which is expected to strengthen the college’s postgraduate academic infrastructure and provide improved facilities for higher education.

Among those present at the programme were Dr Rekha Sharma, Dr Vandana Bharti, Dr Arun Pratap Singh, Dr Mamta Shukla, Dr Harish Shukla, Dr Manoj Mishra, Dr Amit Shukla, Dr Arun Verma, Dr Mukti Tandon, Sharad Pathak and Rambharos, along with members of the college management, faculty and staff.

The inauguration was seen as an important step towards strengthening postgraduate education and creating better opportunities for students in higher learning, research and innovation.
