Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Department has introduced stricter accountability measures for online review meetings, making the personal participation of senior education officials mandatory to improve administrative efficiency and ensure timely implementation of government programmes.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the department has issued fresh guidelines requiring Assistant Directors of Education (Basic) at the divisional level and District Basic Education Officers (BSA) at the district level to attend every online review meeting organised by the Directorate. The new directives seek to strengthen transparency, discipline and result-oriented governance across the state’s school education system.
Education Director (Basic) Anil Bhushan Chaturvedi has instructed all Assistant Directors and District Basic Education Officers that absenteeism and unauthorised representation during virtual review meetings will no longer be accepted. The move follows observations that several districts had failed to ensure the participation of the designated officers during important online meetings, weakening administrative oversight.
According to the revised protocol, officials must join meetings only through their official email IDs to ensure proper verification of participants and enhance the transparency of the review process. If an officer is unable to attend due to unavoidable official commitments, a formally authorised senior subordinate may represent the district or division, ensuring uninterrupted participation.
The department has also introduced a “one district, one authorised login” policy. Multiple officers from the same district or division will not be allowed to join separately using different devices or login credentials. Instead, if more than one official is required to participate, they must attend together from a single location using one authorised login. The measure is intended to eliminate technical confusion and make online reviews more organised and effective.
Officials believe that mandatory participation by senior officers will improve the quality of review meetings, strengthen monitoring of government schemes, ensure quicker compliance with decisions and accelerate implementation of key educational initiatives across Uttar Pradesh. The new guidelines reinforce the state’s emphasis on accountable, technology-driven and performance-oriented governance in the education sector.
