UP Minister A.K. Sharma Reviews Power and Development Projects in Prayagraj

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Urban Development and Energy Minister A. K. Sharma conducted a comprehensive review of power supply, urban development, and infrastructure projects in Prayagraj during a high-level meeting held at the Circuit House Auditorium. Emphasizing public welfare, the minister directed officials to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply and complete all development projects within stipulated timelines, warning that negligence would not be tolerated.

Addressing officials from the Energy Department, Urban Development Department, and Development Authority, Sharma stressed that the government remains committed to providing reliable and high-quality electricity services to residents. He instructed officials to resolve all electricity-related complaints promptly and ensure that consumers do not face inconvenience under any circumstances.

“Public convenience cannot be compromised. Any issue related to power supply must be addressed immediately,” Sharma said during the review. He also directed officials to expedite all approved and under-construction power infrastructure projects, particularly those sanctioned in response to demands raised by public representatives. The minister warned that strict action would be taken against officers found delaying or neglecting assigned responsibilities.

Reviewing urban development initiatives, Sharma directed departments to accelerate the pace of all ongoing projects and ensure their completion before the upcoming Magh Mela. He underscored the importance of timely execution, noting that Prayagraj witnesses a significant influx of pilgrims and visitors during the annual religious gathering.

The minister also instructed officials to speed up work on Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) projects to strengthen the city’s sanitation infrastructure and environmental management systems. He emphasized that efficient sewage treatment facilities are essential for maintaining cleanliness and public health standards in the city.

Highlighting the need to preserve and enhance urban aesthetics, Sharma ordered a fresh inspection of major intersections and public spaces that were beautified ahead of the recent Mahakumbh preparations. Officials were asked to identify and rectify any deficiencies to ensure that these locations continue to reflect the city’s cultural and civic significance.

With the monsoon season underway, the minister directed municipal authorities to undertake timely cleaning of drains and stormwater channels to prevent waterlogging and provide relief to residents. He stressed that preventive measures must be implemented proactively rather than waiting for problems to arise.

Sharma also reviewed progress on the Hanuman Temple Corridor project and instructed officials to complete all remaining works on a priority basis. The corridor is considered an important religious and civic infrastructure initiative aimed at improving accessibility and visitor facilities in the area.

In another significant directive, the minister addressed the issue of street lighting installed along the fairgrounds during major religious events. He instructed authorities not to remove streetlights from locations where they continue to be necessary, ensuring adequate illumination and public safety in and around the mela area.

Reiterating the state government’s commitment to development and public service delivery, Sharma said that under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is pursuing infrastructure and public welfare projects with a strong focus on quality, transparency, and timely completion.

He urged officials to work with a sense of responsibility and sensitivity toward public needs, emphasizing that every project must be executed efficiently and in the larger interest of citizens.

The review meeting concluded with a clear message from the minister: uninterrupted power supply, improved civic amenities, effective urban management, and timely completion of development works remain top priorities, and any lapse in execution will invite strict administrative action.
