Lucknow Police Launches Major Drive Against Unverified E-Rickshaws and Auto-Rickshaws
Lucknow: In a significant move aimed at strengthening public safety and enhancing passenger security, particularly for women, Lucknow Police has intensified its crackdown on unverified e-rickshaws and auto-rickshaws operating without mandatory QR code identification in the Wazirganj area.
The special verification and checking campaign is being led by Wazirganj Station House Officer (SHO) Rajesh Tripathi, who has directed police teams to conduct rigorous inspections of public transport vehicles plying on city roads. During the drive, vehicles found operating without a valid verification process and unique QR code registration are being seized as per prescribed regulations.
According to police officials, the QR code system is issued only after thorough police verification of drivers and vehicle documents. The initiative is designed to create a reliable database of public transport operators and help authorities quickly identify drivers in case of complaints or emergencies.
Officials said that special attention is being paid to monitoring suspicious drivers and ensuring that all public transport operators comply with verification norms. The campaign is also focused on improving women’s safety by ensuring that only authenticated and verified drivers are allowed to operate passenger vehicles.

Police have warned that strict action will continue against vehicle owners and drivers violating the verification guidelines. Authorities are keeping a close watch on unregistered and unverified vehicles running on city roads and have urged all operators to complete the verification process without delay.
The ongoing drive is part of Lucknow Police’s broader effort to enhance law and order, improve passenger confidence in public transport, and ensure safer commuting across the city.
