Lucknow: Traffic constable Naveen Chaudhary displayed exceptional courage while apprehending a chain-snatching suspect who was attempting to flee during Raksha Bandhan duty at Madiyaon Dhala in Lucknow.
According to the report, Chaudhary was deployed for traffic duty when he noticed the accused allegedly fleeing after a chain-snatching incident. The constable immediately pursued the suspect and managed to catch him.
During the chase, the accused allegedly attacked Chaudhary with a stone in an attempt to escape. The constable sustained an injury to his nose and began bleeding. Despite being injured, he continued the pursuit, apprehended the suspect and handed him over to the local police.
Chaudhary was taken to Him City Hospital for treatment, where he received two stitches for the injury to his nose. His condition was later reported to be stable.
The constable’s courage, dedication to duty and determination have been appreciated within the police department. The Police Commissioner has announced a cash reward of ₹10,000 and a commendation certificate for Chaudhary. His name has also been recommended for a Commendation Disc in recognition of his bravery.
The incident has highlighted the dedication of police personnel who continue to perform their duties during major festivals. Chaudhary’s decision to pursue the accused despite sustaining an injury has been described as an example of courage and commitment to duty.
