Lucknow: Bhatkhande Sanskriti University inaugurated its month-long Summer Music and Arts Workshop at the university campus with great enthusiasm and participation from art lovers across age groups.

The workshop, being organised from May 26 to June 25, 2026, aims to promote Indian classical arts and provide structured training in music, dance, and fine arts. According to the university administration, participants have shown tremendous interest in the programme this year, with Kathak dance receiving the highest number of registrations.

The workshop offers training in a wide range of disciplines, including Indian classical vocal music, light music, folk songs, instrumental music, dance forms, and fine arts. Participants are being trained in instruments such as tabla, pakhawaj, sitar, violin, western guitar, flute, harmonium, and keyboard.

Dance classes include Kathak, Bharatanatyam, and folk dance, while the fine arts section covers painting and clay modelling. Special classical vocal music classes have also been introduced for autistic and differently-abled children, making the initiative more inclusive and socially meaningful.

The primary objective of the workshop is to encourage children and the general public to develop an interest in Indian music, dance, and fine arts while nurturing their creative abilities.

Classes are being conducted daily, except Sundays and public holidays, in two batches from 9:00 am to 10:00 am and 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Participants are receiving training from experienced faculty members and professional instructors of the university, ranging from beginner to advanced levels.

At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will be given an opportunity to showcase their talent through stage performances, while certificates will be distributed during the closing ceremony.

Vice Chancellor Mandavi Singh said that music and the arts not only provide joy but also contribute significantly to the holistic development of an individual’s personality.

She described the workshop as an important initiative towards preserving and promoting Indian classical music, dance, and fine arts, adding that the university’s mission extends beyond formal education to inspiring children and youth to engage with art and culture.

Workshop coordinator Manoj Kumar Mishra said such programmes provide participants with a valuable platform to discover and develop their creative potential.

He particularly appreciated the inclusion of special classes for autistic and differently-abled children, calling it a reflection of the university’s commitment towards inclusive education and cultural accessibility.
