Lucknow: A two-hour-long marathon meeting between senior health officials and representatives of paramedical staff organisations was held at the Directorate auditorium, focusing on long-pending demands of healthcare workers in Uttar Pradesh.
The meeting was attended by officials of the Rajya Karmchari Sanyukt Parishad Uttar Pradesh, including President Suresh Kumar Rawat and General Secretary Atul Mishra, along with representatives from various paramedical associations. Key participants included Kamal Srivastava (General Secretary, LT Association UP), Ram Manohar Kushwaha and Dilip Kumar from the X-Ray Technician Association, Anil Kumar (Provincial Physiotherapist Association), and D.D. Tripathi and Rajeev Tiwari from the Dental Hygienist Association.
Senior health officials present at the meeting included Pawan Kumar Arun, Director Sanju Agrawal, and Joint Director Sunil Kumar (Paramedical).
During the discussions, Atul Mishra raised several key issues concerning paramedical staff, including cadre restructuring, removal of pay anomalies, and the impact of upgrading district hospitals into medical colleges, which has led to the abolition of several posts. He demanded proper adjustment of affected employees in upgraded institutions along with their posts.
Other major demands included filling of vacant positions, ensuring timely promotions, change in designations, and granting weightage to contractual employees in regular recruitment processes, similar to provisions available for nurses and ANMs. Mishra urged that these issues be addressed on a priority and time-bound basis.

Responding to the concerns, Director General Dr. Pawan Kumar Arun assured the representatives that a comprehensive proposal addressing the demands would be prepared and sent to the government within 15 days. He emphasized that efficient functioning of hospitals depends on the satisfaction of employees and assured personal intervention to ensure early resolution.
He also directed that a follow-up meeting be convened soon to review progress on the issues discussed.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with the State Employees Joint Council expressing gratitude to the Director General for the constructive dialogue and assurance of action.
