Lucknow: In a significant relief for traders and visitors, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation has assured the construction of a public toilet facility at Bhootnath Market after a delegation of traders raised the issue with the Mayor.
A delegation under the banner of Uttar Pradesh Adarsh Vyapar Mandal, led by State President Sanjay Gupta, met Mayor Sushma Kharkwal to press for the long-pending demand.
During the meeting, Chairman of Bhootnath Adarsh Vyapar Mandal, Kamal Agrawal, highlighted that the absence of a public toilet in the busy marketplace has been causing severe inconvenience to both traders and customers. He particularly emphasized the challenges faced by women traders, female employees, and the large number of women visitors, who currently have no access to basic sanitation facilities in the area.
The traders also submitted a written memorandum to the Mayor, outlining the urgency of the issue and seeking immediate intervention.

Responding promptly, Mayor Sushma Kharkwal assured the delegation that a public toilet facility catering to both men and women will be constructed at Bhootnath Market at the earliest. She also directed concerned officials to take immediate action and expedite the process.
The assurance has been welcomed by the trading community, who expressed hope that the move will significantly improve basic amenities and convenience in one of the city’s prominent commercial hubs.
