Lucknow: The Special Task Force (STF), Uttar Pradesh, achieved a major breakthrough in combating illegal drug trafficking by arresting an active member of an interstate gang smuggling oxytocin injections. A large quantity of oxytocin injections and related paraphernalia were seized during the operation.
The arrested accused has been identified as Rehan, son of Musahib, resident of Tirwa, Police Station Rahimabad, Lucknow. The seizure included:
- 502 vials of oxytocin injections (total 180 ml)
- 2 mobile phones
- 1 motorcycle (UP32 GX 8277)
Details of the Operation:
On April 6, 2026, at 6:30 PM, the STF, under the supervision of Avnishwar Chandra Srivastava, Additional Superintendent of Police, STF Lucknow, intercepted the accused at Karimabad Underpass, Kakori, Lucknow. The operation was led by Sub-Inspector Faizuddin Siddiqui with team members SHO Shailendra Upadhyay, SHO Sunil Mishra, SHO Shrikrishna Giri, Constable Dalbir Yadav, and driver Vishnu.
The STF had received intelligence in the past few days regarding the gang transporting oxytocin injections from Bihar to Lucknow, illegally adulterating them, and supplying them in Lucknow and surrounding districts. These injections, if misused, posed severe health risks to both humans and animals. Acting on credible information, the STF coordinated with local police and the Drugs Department to intercept the accused.

During questioning, the accused revealed that Irfan, a resident of Cattle Colony, Balaganj, was another active member who supplied oxytocin injections to him, which he then distributed at various locations in Lucknow.
Health Risk Note:
As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, Gazette Notification No. 242(E), dated 03-04-2001, under Rule 105 of the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945, oxytocin injections are legally allowed to be sold only in single-unit blister packs. Illegal sale and adulteration of oxytocin pose serious threats to public health and can lead to multiple diseases. Samples of the seized injections have been sent for laboratory testing to verify their safety and composition.
Legal Action:
A case has been registered at Kakori Police Station, Lucknow Commissionerate, FIR No. 124/2026 under Sections 318(4), 280, 276, and 112 BNS. Further legal proceedings are ongoing under the supervision of local authorities.
