Lucknow: The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) at Vivekananda Polyclinic & Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, successfully organized a live workshop on semen analysis in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh chapter of the Indian Society for Assisted Reproduction (UP-ISAR), Advy Biosciences, and Axiocare.
The workshop focused on recent advancements in semen analysis and the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in reproductive medicine. Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Keshav Malhotra highlighted advanced techniques for the isolation of live motile sperm and discussed their clinical significance in fertility treatment. He also elaborated on the use of AI-powered tools for accurate assessment of sperm DNA fragmentation and explained how such analysis can influence reproductive outcomes and treatment planning.
A thought-provoking panel discussion was held on the management of abnormal semen analysis reports, during which leading fertility specialists shared their clinical experiences and insights. Participants also attended a hands-on live demonstration session designed to familiarize healthcare professionals with modern semen analysis technologies and laboratory practices.
The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from doctors, embryologists, postgraduate students, and healthcare professionals from across the region. Interactive discussions and practical sessions contributed significantly to enhancing participants’ understanding of male fertility assessment and assisted reproductive techniques.

Earlier, addressing the gathering, Swami Muktinathananda Maharaj, Secretary of the institute, emphasized the importance of integrating scientific advancements with compassionate healthcare. He underscored the need for continuous learning, adherence to medical ethics, and selfless service to humanity in the healthcare profession.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Seema Pandey, Secretary of UP-ISAR, said that this was the first workshop of its kind on semen analysis to be organized in Lucknow. She announced that similar workshops would be conducted in other cities across Uttar Pradesh as part of a series aimed at increasing awareness among physicians treating infertile couples. The initiative seeks to help clinicians better understand and interpret semen analysis reports, enabling timely referrals to IVF specialists and improving patient outcomes.
The workshop highlighted the growing importance of technology-driven diagnostics in fertility care and reinforced the need for continued professional education to ensure accurate diagnosis and effective treatment for couples facing reproductive challenges.
