Mahavir Jayanti Celebrated with Devotion and Grandeur at Jain Temple in Lucknow

Lucknow | The auspicious festival of Mahavir Jayanti was celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm at the Shri 1008 Bhagwan Mahavir Digambar Jain Temple in Aashiyana, Lucknow. The event was marked by spiritual fervor, cultural activities, and large participation from devotees.

Organized by the Shri Digambar Jain Seva Samiti, the celebrations commemorated the birth anniversary of Lord Mahavir, the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism and a proponent of non-violence and compassion.

Devotional Processions and Rituals

The कार्यक्रम began early in the morning with a vibrant ‘Prabhat Pheri’, where devotees marched through the streets chanting religious hymns and carrying Jain flags. Women also participated enthusiastically, organizing a special procession that drew significant attention.

At the temple, the main ceremony included ‘Abhishek’ and ‘Shantidhara’ rituals conducted under the guidance of scholar Pandit Rajeev Jain Shastri. Devotees performed collective aarti and participated in the Mahavir Vidhan, praying for global peace and harmony.

Message of Peace and Non-Violence

Speaking on the occasion, Committee President Chandraprakash Jain emphasized the relevance of Lord Mahavir’s teachings in today’s turbulent times.

“In an era marked by unrest, the principles of ‘Ahimsa’ (non-violence) and ‘Aparigraha’ (non-possessiveness) are more relevant than ever. If practiced sincerely, these values can resolve many global challenges,” he said.

Community Participation and Cultural Activities

The event witnessed the presence of several committee members and community leaders, including Minister Ajay Jain, along with Akhilesh Jain, Sharad Kumar Jain, Ankit Jain, Anoop Jain, Ashish Jain, and Brijesh Jain. Members of the women’s wing, including Dr. Savita Jain, Sweety Jain, Anita Jain, and Sangeeta Jain, also actively participated.

The celebrations concluded with a community feast (Vatsalya Bhoj) and a large ‘Bhandara’ organized for the general public outside Sanmati Departmental Store, drawing a massive turnout of devotees.

The event reflected a strong sense of unity, devotion, and the enduring relevance of Jain philosophy in promoting peace and harmony.
