LUCKNOW: To celebrate the festive spirit of Holi, the Khadi and Village Industries Board has launched a seven-day “Lagu Khadi” exhibition at the Khadi Bhawan, Dalibagh premises. The event, running from February 20 to 26, 2026, was officially inaugurated by the Cabinet Minister for Khadi and Village Industries, Rakesh Sachan, with a traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Promoting ‘Local for Global’ Through Khadi
After paying floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, Minister Sachan inspected the various stalls and addressed the gathering. He highlighted the government’s consistent efforts to make Khadi a household name and emphasized its growing popularity among the youth due to modernized designs and improved quality.
“Our objective is to link the youth with self-employment opportunities within the Khadi sector. By integrating modern technology with traditional craftsmanship, we are giving Khadi a new, trendy identity,” the Minister stated.
A Record-Breaking Performance
The Minister shared impressive growth figures reflecting the sector’s success across Uttar Pradesh:

State-wide Impact: Khadi exhibitions have been successfully conducted in all 18 divisions of the state.

Sales Milestone: Through 1,953 stalls, a total sale of ₹3,949.49 lakh was achieved across these divisions.

Khadi Mahotsav-2025: Recorded a historic sale of ₹3.20 crore from over 160 units, marking a staggering 42% increase compared to the previous year.

Exhibition Highlights
The 7-day Lucknow event features over 40 specialized stalls representing entrepreneurs from various districts. The diverse product range includes:

Festive Specials: Herbal Gulal, papads, snacks, and organic honey.

Lifestyle & Apparel: Amla products, bedsheets, Gamchas, towels, Kurta-Pyjamas, and exquisite Silk and Reshmi sarees.

Handicrafts: A wide variety of hand-spun and hand-woven garments.
Vision for Self-Reliance
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Joint CEO Siddharth Yadav, who reiterated the Board’s commitment to creating high-employment opportunities with low capital investment, fostering an environment for “Atmanirbhar” (self-reliant) youth.
The inauguration was attended by several senior officials, including Principal Secretary Anil Sagar, CEO Shishir, Financial Advisor Manvendra Singh, and Planning Officer Vinod Srivastava.
