Lucknow: On the auspicious occasion of the 5126th Geeta Jayanti and Mokshada Ekadashi, Ramakrishna Math, Nirala Nagar, Lucknow, organised a grand one-day spiritual programme on Monday. The highlight of the event was the extraordinary performance by 10-year-old prodigious talent Aryama Shukla, who recited the entire Bhagavad Gita—700 verses across 18 chapters—without looking at any text, mesmerising everyone present. The event was also broadcast live on the Math’s YouTube channel “Ramakrishna Math Lucknow” for devotees worldwide.
“When Dharma Declines, God Himself Incarnates” — Swami Muktinathananda
The day-long programme began at 5:00 a.m. with Shankhnaad and Mangala Aarti, followed by an online Satsang by Swami Muktinathananda Ji Maharaj at 7:15 a.m.
Speaking on the significance of Geeta Jayanti, the President of Ramakrishna Math said:
“Geeta Jayanti and Mokshada Ekadashi are celebrated on the same day. It was on this sacred Ekadashi that Lord Krishna imparted the divine teachings of the Gita to Arjuna, revealing the ultimate truth of life. Every verse of the Gita emerged from the divine lips of Shri Krishna Himself.”
He explained that the first two words of the Gita — Dharmakshetre Kurukshetre — encompass the essence of the entire scripture.
“The message is simple: uphold righteousness in every sphere of life. Dharma is our mother, father, protector, and guide. Therefore, one must never abandon Dharma while performing one’s duties.”
Quoting the Gita, he added:
“Karmanye vadhikaraste ma phaleshu kadachana — A person has control only over action, never over the fruits of action.”
And,
“Yada yada hi dharmasya glanir bhavati Bharata… Whenever Dharma declines and Adharma rises, the Lord Himself incarnates on Earth.”
