LCWW Celebrates Lucknow’s UNESCO ‘City of Gastronomy’ Recognition

Lucknow – In honor of Lucknow’s recognition as the ‘City of Gastronomy’ by UNESCO, Lucknow Connection Worldwide (LCWW) hosted a special event that included a Heritage Tonga Ride and a traditional Lucknavi feast. The event, which took place around iconic city landmarks such as the Imambada, Clock Tower, Satkhanda Monument, and Picture Gallery, was a vibrant celebration of the city’s rich cultural and gastronomical heritage.

The day began early at Kudia Park, where LCWW founder,  Sunil Misra, welcomed participants with warmth and enthusiasm. Dr. Ravi Bhatt, a renowned historian, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor. Dr. Bhatt shared his valuable insights on the journey that led to Lucknow’s UNESCO recognition, particularly emphasizing the contributions of former Chief Secretary, Durga Shankar Mishra, IAS, and Mukesh Mehram, IAS, Principal Secretary, UP Government.

Prominent LCWW members, including Anil Shukla, Vishal Agarwal, Manish Bhartiya, Navneet Gupta, Aditya Shukla, Anuj Chaturvedi, Vinod Srivastava, Neerja Shukla, Chitra Venkatramanan, and many others, participated in the event.

After Dr. Bhatt’s insightful address, attendees enjoyed a variety of traditional Lucknavi dishes, meticulously prepared with authentic recipes that showcase the city’s culinary excellence. The event also featured a nostalgic Tonga Ride through the historic streets of Lucknow, allowing participants to experience the charm of a bygone era when tongas were the primary mode of transport.

The event culminated with a delightful Lucknavi lunch, offering an array of local delicacies that enriched the overall experience.
