Nation’s Spirit Reverberates Through Patriotic Melodies and Cultural Performances

Lucknow: Marking a moment of national pride, the Indian Army’s Surya Command celebrated the 150th anniversary of the timeless national song “Vande Mataram” with mass singing ceremonies and cultural events across all its units.

It was on November 7, 1875, that Bankim Chandra Chatterjee composed “Vande Mataram”, a song that went on to inspire generations and became the heartbeat of India’s freedom struggle. To commemorate this milestone, Surya Command organized a series of events themed “A Song That Stirred a Nation — A Spirit That United India.”

The celebrations included the collective singing of “Vande Mataram”, along with patriotic musical performances, and cultural programs that showcased the ideals of unity, diversity, and national pride. Soldiers, their families, schoolchildren, and veterans participated with great enthusiasm, paying heartfelt tribute to the national song and reaffirming their commitment to the ideals of sacrifice, unity, and national honor.

Addressing the gathering, senior Army officers reflected on how “Vande Mataram” continues to resonate as a timeless anthem — not merely as a song, but as a symbol of India’s eternal spirit and indomitable will.

True to its motto of service, devotion, and dedication to the nation, the Surya Command proudly echoed the spirit of “Vande Mataram”, celebrating the melody that continues to unite and inspire India even 150 years later.
