45-member diplomatic team praises Uttar Pradesh’s ODOP products
Lucknow: A 45-member diplomatic delegation representing 21 countries from Central and South America and the Caribbean region experienced the vibrant cultural and artistic heritage of Uttar Pradesh during their visit to Lucknow on Sunday.
The three-day tour was organised by Invest UP under the training programme of the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (Ministry of External Affairs) to showcase the state’s unique cultural identity and investment potential.
Anita Shukla, Joint Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, accompanied the delegation throughout their visit. The diplomats began their cultural journey with a visit to the historic Bara Imambara, an architectural marvel symbolising the city’s Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb (composite culture). They were deeply impressed by its grand structure, intricate design, and historical legacy, which reflect the glorious past of the region.
In the evening, the delegation visited the Uttar Pradesh Institute of Design and Research, where they explored the creativity and craftsmanship associated with the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative. The diplomats interacted with local artisans and students, admiring the handcrafted products, traditional artworks, and innovative designs on display.

The Art and Design Museum within the institute also captivated the visitors, presenting a seamless blend of tradition and modern design aesthetics unique to Uttar Pradesh.
Officials from Invest UP extended a warm welcome to the delegation and expressed gratitude for their enthusiastic participation. The diplomats commended the state government’s dynamic policy that integrates culture with investment, describing Uttar Pradesh as an emerging global destination filled with opportunities for trade and collaboration.
The visit concluded with a group photograph, symbolising goodwill and shared commitment to future partnerships. The delegation departed with appreciation for Uttar Pradesh’s cultural richness, artistic excellence, and investment potential, assuring continued engagement in fostering international cooperation.
