Lucknow: With the festive rush for Chhath Puja underway, the Railway Department has swung into action to ensure a smooth and safe travel experience for passengers. Under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Gaurav Agarwal, the North Eastern Railway’s Lucknow Division has implemented special arrangements for crowd control and passenger assistance across major stations including Gorakhpur Junction, Lucknow Junction, Badshahnagar, Gonda, Basti, Khalilabad, Sitapur, Lakhimpur, and Badhni.
To monitor passenger movement, ‘War Rooms’ have been established at the Lucknow Control Room and Gorakhpur Railway Station, ensuring 24-hour supervision by railway officials deployed in shifts. Passenger assistance booths titled ‘May I Help You’ are operating round the clock, staffed with trained personnel providing guidance and essential information.
To manage heavy ticket demand, additional ticket counters and ATVM facilitators have been arranged at key stations, along with QR code payment systems at both general and reservation counters for quick transactions.

Crowd movement is being continuously monitored through CCTV surveillance, while the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and state police are working in coordination to maintain security. Special attention has been given to women’s safety with the deployment of ‘Meri Saheli’—RPF’s dedicated women’s security team.
