UP Government Ends Consolidation Process in 11 Villages Across Eight Districts

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has accelerated efforts to complete long-pending land consolidation proceedings in villages to help farmers access government welfare schemes and resolve land-related issues.

Following Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s directions, Consolidation Commissioner Dr Hrishikesh Bhaskar Yashod has ordered the withdrawal of consolidation proceedings in six villages across four districts under Section 6(1) of the Uttar Pradesh Consolidation of Holdings Act. The decision applies to villages where progress has been hindered by development plans, river erosion, insufficient cultivable land, industrial development, factional disputes or other persistent obstacles.

The six villages are Ajgawan, Pidna and Sadabad in Unnao district; Magrasa in Bareilly; Baral in Bulandshahr; and Kajipur (Gira) in Banda. Consolidation proceedings in these villages had remained pending for periods ranging from two to 12 years.

Meanwhile, proceedings have been completed under Section 52(1) of the Act in five villages across five districts. These include Baisar in Maharajganj, Bhikampur in Bulandshahr, Sikri Salis in Chitrakoot, Auradih in Basti and Devalha in Pratapgarh. The process had remained pending for periods ranging from two to 18 years.

In total, consolidation proceedings have been concluded in 11 villages across eight districts, either through withdrawal or completion.

The commissioner has also directed consolidation officials to conduct a special campaign from October 15 to November 15, 2026, to ensure the complete disposal of undisputed succession and mutation cases within the prescribed legal timeframe. District officials must certify that no case exceeding the stipulated period remains pending and identify officials responsible for delays.

Additionally, consolidation courts have been instructed to prioritise cases pending for more than three years. Officials have also been directed to inspect subordinate courts, offices and consolidation records and submit inspection reports within 15 days. Negligence in disposal of cases may invite action under applicable rules.
