New Delhi: The web series “The Ba**ds Of Bollywood” has sparked a major legal battle, dragging Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s production company Red Chillies Entertainment and streaming giant Netflix into controversy. Former NCB Zonal Director and IRS officer Sameer Wankhede has filed a ₹2 crore defamation suit against the makers of the series, alleging that the show damages his image and portrays him in a biased and derogatory manner.
The Delhi High Court, while hearing the petition, has issued summons to Red Chillies Entertainment, Netflix, X Corp (formerly Twitter), Google LLC, Meta Platforms and others. Wankhede claims the series not only harms his reputation and dignity but has also led to social media trolling of him and his family.
During the previous hearing, the court had asked Wankhede to submit a revised petition with clarifications. On Wednesday, the bench headed by Justice Purushendra Kumar Kaurav took up the amended plea. Senior advocate Sandeep Sethi, appearing for Wankhede, argued that the show contains malicious and misleading scenes regarding the Aryan Khan drug case, which is still pending before a special NDPS court in Mumbai.
On the other hand, senior advocate Rajiv Nayar, representing Netflix, argued that the Delhi court lacks jurisdiction as all parties do not reside in the national capital.

The court observed that blanket injunctions cannot be granted at this stage but directed all parties to file their written responses. The matter has been listed for next hearing on October 30, 2025.
The legal tussle puts fresh spotlight on the high-profile Aryan Khan case and raises key questions on creative freedom vs. reputational harm in OTT content. The battle is far from over—and all eyes are now on the upcoming hearing.
