Lucknow: Medanta Lucknow Hospital has achieved a significant milestone in medical innovation by successfully performing 509 robotic surgeries in the past year — the highest number recorded by any private hospital in India over the same period. This achievement underscores the hospital’s commitment to advanced technology and expert medical care.
The surgeries spanned multiple specialties, with the Gynecology Department leading at 219 procedures, followed by Gastrointestinal (GI) Surgery at 137, Urology at 109, Cardiac Surgery at 23, and other departments contributing 21 robotic procedures.
A press conference held recently saw the presence of top medical leaders, including Medical Director and Director of Urology & Kidney Transplant Dr. Rakesh Kapoor, Dr. Aneesh Srivastava, Dr. Manmeet Singh, Director of Gynecology & Obstetrics Dr. Neelam Vinay, Director of GI Surgery Dr. Anand Prakash, and other senior consultants across specialties.
Commenting on this accomplishment, Dr. Rakesh Kapoor said, “Performing 509 robotic surgeries in a year reflects our commitment to precision, safety, and faster patient recovery. Our state-of-the-art robotic systems, combined with the expertise of our doctors, enable us to provide superior care and continually improve treatment outcomes.”
Robotic Surgery Transforming Patient Care
Robotic surgery has shown particular impact in gynecology, offering minimally invasive solutions for conditions like uterine fibroids, endometriosis, pelvic organ prolapse, heavy bleeding, adnexal diseases, and gynecological cancers. Patients benefit from precision surgery and faster recovery times.

In urology, robotic techniques have revolutionized prostate and kidney surgeries, allowing precise tumor removal and kidney preservation, reducing complications like urinary leakage.
In gastroenterology, robotic procedures are increasingly effective for stomach, esophageal, intestinal, pancreatic, liver, biliary, and gallbladder diseases, particularly cancers. Similarly, in cardiac surgery, robotics provides alternatives to open-heart procedures, reducing patient trauma and physical strain on surgeons. Pediatric surgeries and organ transplants are also witnessing improved outcomes thanks to robotic assistance.
Medanta Lucknow’s record highlights how cutting-edge robotic technology is shaping the future of patient care, setting a new benchmark for medical excellence in India.
