New Delhi: INDIA bloc parties are gearing up to support a Congress-led no-confidence motion against Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, accusing him of partisan behavior in the Upper House. Sources indicate that even parties often at odds with the Congress, such as Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress, Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party, and Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party, are likely to endorse the motion. This action will reportedly be undertaken under Article 67(B) of the Constitution.

Tensions between the Opposition and the Rajya Sabha Chairman have been escalating over various issues. The situation reached a boiling point when BJP members accused top Congress leaders of collaborating with billionaire investor George Soros to destabilize the country. During the session, Chairman Dhankhar questioned the ruling party’s protest, leading BJP MPs to insist on discussing the matter, claiming it pertained to national security.

This sparked outrage among Opposition leaders, including Mallikarjun Kharge, Jairam Ramesh, and Pramod Tiwari, who criticized Dhankhar for permitting the BJP to raise such allegations while rejecting their motions for discussions on critical subjects.

Amid the uproar, both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha faced adjournments, with the Rajya Sabha witnessing three interruptions before Dhankhar summoned the Leader of the House and the Leader of the Opposition for talks. Following the meeting, Dhankhar emphasized the need to uphold national integrity and sovereignty while resolving to ensure the smooth functioning of the House.
