Lucknow: The prestigious state-level Hanuman Cup hockey tournament is set to commence on November 5 at Padmashree Mohd. Shahid Hockey Stadium, located in Vijayant Khand, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow. Organized under the guidance of Veer Shivaji Hockey Academy, the tournament will bring together top hockey talent from across the state in an exciting competition spanning four days, with the final scheduled for November 9.
The opening ceremony will feature Manoj Kant, Director of Rashtradharma Sansthan, as the chief guest, while Dr. Anil Kumar Pathak, Director of the State Urban Development Agency, will preside over the program. Adding to the event’s prominence, MLC Engr. Avnish Singh and Sports Director Dr. RP Singh will also attend as special guests.
According to Gaurav Awasthi, Director of Veer Shivaji Hockey Academy, eight teams will compete in this year’s Hanuman Cup, representing various institutions including Uttar Pradesh Police, SSB, State Hostel Banaras, State Hostel Jhansi, State Hostel Rampur, State Hostel Lucknow, Sports Authority of India, and Guru Govind Singh Sports College. Each team will strive to claim the title in this highly anticipated tournament.
To motivate the players, a cash prize of ₹50,000 will be awarded to the winning team, with the runner-up team receiving ₹30,000. Additionally, the “Man of the Match” in each game will receive a prize of ₹1,000, recognizing outstanding individual performances.
With intense competition expected among these elite teams, hockey enthusiasts can look forward to thrilling matches throughout the tournament, culminating in the final showdown on November 9.
