Young Minds Travel the World at La Martiniere College’s ‘Beyond Frontiers’ Event

Lucknow: The Junior School campus of La Martiniere College came alive with colour, creativity, and cultural vibrancy as students from Classes 1 to 4 participated in the engaging school program, “Beyond Frontiers – Our Neighbouring Countries.” The unique initiative aimed at introducing young learners to the cultures, traditions, and heritage of neighbouring nations through interactive and experiential learning.

Class 1: Discovering Sri Lanka
Class 1 students explored Sri Lanka with great enthusiasm. Dressed in themed costumes representing politics, culture, flora, fauna, and tourist landmarks, the children confidently delivered short presentations. The venue was decorated with Sri Lankan flags and traditional masks, creating an immersive environment. The event was graced by Principal Gary Dominic Everett and other senior faculty members, whose presence inspired the young participants. The activity successfully combined fun with learning, enhancing confidence and awareness.

Class 2: Experiencing Bhutan
Class 2 showcased the cultural richness of Bhutan through creative crafts such as masks, dragons, prayer flags, and handmade currency. Students welcomed dignitaries with traditional Bhutanese greetings and even spoke a few lines in the Bhutanese language. Dance performances and thoughtful takeaways added depth to the presentation, reflecting both creativity and cultural understanding.

Class 3: Exploring Afghanistan
Class 3 presented a vibrant depiction of Afghanistan, with each section representing a major city. Activities included map-making, kite crafting, and a “Spice & Silk Relay” symbolizing trade heritage. The highlight was the energetic Attan dance, showcasing unity and cultural appreciation. The event concluded with Afghanistan’s national anthem, reinforcing global awareness and respect.

Class 4: Celebrating Nepal
Class 4 focused on Nepal, beautifully decorating the venue with flags and images of landmarks such as Mount Everest and Pashupatinath Temple. Students dressed in traditional attire performed folk dances, sang Indo-Nepali songs, and even demonstrated cooking the popular Wai Wai noodles, adding a lively and interactive touch.

Overall, the “Beyond Frontiers” program proved to be a remarkable blend of education and entertainment. It fostered global awareness, encouraged teamwork, and built confidence among students, truly allowing them to explore the world beyond textbooks while remaining within the school campus.
