Lucknow: In a significant welfare initiative, the Uttar Pradesh government has accelerated efforts to provide cashless healthcare facilities to cooks, Shiksha Mitras, special educators, teachers, and other personnel associated with government schools, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs), and the PM Poshan Scheme.
The move is part of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath‘s commitment to employee welfare and social security for frontline education and nutrition workers. The Basic Education Department has launched a statewide implementation drive to ensure eligible beneficiaries and their families receive healthcare coverage in a timely manner.
According to official directives issued by Anil Bhushan Chaturvedi, all District Basic Education Officers have been instructed to facilitate beneficiary registration and ensure smooth implementation of the scheme.
The cashless medical facility will cover employees working in Basic Education Council schools, government-recognized aided and self-financed schools, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, as well as Shiksha Mitras, special educators working with Children With Special Needs (CWSN), cooks engaged under the PM Poshan Scheme, and eligible members of Anganwadi families.
Special Training Programme on June 4
To streamline implementation and beneficiary enrollment, a special training programme is being organized on June 4 at the Office of the Director of Basic Education in Lucknow. The session will begin at noon and will provide detailed guidance on registration procedures, eligibility criteria, and operational aspects of the scheme.

Officials and designated personnel from various departments and districts will participate in the training to ensure uniform execution across the state.
Districts Directed to Appoint Nodal Personnel
The department has also directed all districts to appoint nodal personnel responsible for coordinating the programme and facilitating beneficiary registration. These officials will play a key role in ensuring that eligible workers and their families are enrolled without delays.
To maximize participation, the training programme will also be conducted through virtual platforms, enabling representatives from all districts to join and receive necessary instructions.
The initiative is expected to provide a major boost to social security for thousands of education and nutrition workers who play a crucial role in running Uttar Pradesh’s school education system. By extending cashless healthcare coverage, the state government aims to reduce the financial burden of medical treatment and strengthen the welfare framework for grassroots education personnel and their families.
