Bareilly: A review meeting on labour welfare schemes was held at the District Magistrate’s Camp Office under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Avinash Singh. The meeting focused on expanding awareness and enrollment under pension schemes designed for unorganized workers and small traders.
Assistant Labour Commissioner informed the meeting that two major pension schemes are being implemented to provide financial security to workers and traders in their old age through a monthly pension of ₹3,000.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana, beneficiaries include rickshaw pullers, street vendors, domestic workers, construction labourers, cobblers, tailors and other workers in the unorganized sector. Eligible applicants must be between 18 and 40 years of age, earn ₹15,000 or less per month, not be income taxpayers, and should not be members of EPFO, NPS or ESIC. After attaining the age of 60, enrolled workers become eligible for a monthly pension of ₹3,000. In the event of the beneficiary’s death, the spouse is entitled to a family pension of ₹1,500 per month. Workers contribute between ₹55 and ₹200 per month, depending on age, with the government contributing an equal amount.
The meeting also reviewed the Laghu Vyapari Maandhan Yojana, which benefits small shopkeepers, retail traders, hotel owners and rice mill operators with an annual turnover of up to ₹1.5 crore. The scheme similarly provides a monthly pension of ₹3,000 after the age of 60.
Officials reported that 10,326 workers have already been registered under the Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana. Bareilly currently ranks 12th in Uttar Pradesh in achieving its registration targets for the financial year 2026-27.

District Magistrate Avinash Singh directed officials to undertake extensive publicity campaigns so that more eligible workers and traders can benefit from these schemes. He urged labourers and small business owners to register through Common Service Centres (CSCs) and secure their financial future.
The meeting was attended by the Assistant Labour Commissioner and other concerned officials.
