Review Meeting of Fisheries Department’s State and Centrally Sponsored Schemes Held in Bareilly

Bareilly: A review meeting of state and centrally sponsored schemes being implemented by the Fisheries Department was held at the Collectorate Auditorium under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Avinash Singh.

During the meeting, the District Magistrate emphasized that the benefits of all fisheries-related schemes should reach eligible and economically weaker beneficiaries so that they can improve their livelihoods and become financially self-reliant. He directed officials to ensure wider outreach and effective implementation of government welfare programmes for fish farmers.

The District Magistrate also instructed the Assistant Director of Fisheries to conduct a comprehensive survey on the quantity of fish being imported into the district and the level of local consumption. He further directed that review meetings on the sector’s performance and requirements should be held at least once every two months.

A fish farmer from Mirganj raised concerns regarding an alleged illegal lease on his land and informed the meeting that a complaint filed on May 21 had not yet been resolved. Taking serious note of the matter, the District Magistrate directed the concerned Sub-Divisional Magistrate to ensure prompt disposal of the complaint.

He also instructed the Executive Engineer of the Irrigation Department to take immediate measures to replenish water in rivers that are nearing depletion in order to support fisheries activities and ecological balance.

The meeting was attended by DRDA Project Director Chandra Prakash Srivastava, DC MGNREGA Habib Ansari, Assistant Director Fisheries, and several fish farmers from the district.
