68 Medals Earned in Two Years; ₹25 Lakh in Prize Money Distributed
57 Sports Competitions Scheduled for Coming Academic Year

Bareilly: The Sports Executive Council and General Council meeting of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University was held under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.P. Singh at the university on August 27.
Sports Secretary Prof. S.S. Bedi stated that the university’s sports journey is no longer limited to medals alone. It has evolved into a comprehensive framework encompassing achievement, participation, sports culture, and social responsibility. The accomplishments of the past two years—68 medals, ₹25 lakh in prize money, development of modern sports facilities, and hosting national-level competitions—reflect the university’s commitment to sports. He added that the sports department will continue its efforts to provide athletes with better opportunities and facilities in the future.
Three Important Resolutions Passed
During the meeting, Sports Secretary Prof. S.S. Bedi presented three important resolutions addressing key issues related to the university’s sports activities, athlete achievements, expansion of sports facilities, and upcoming competitive events. All three resolutions were passed unanimously following detailed discussion.
First Resolution: Approval of Minutes and Promotion of Sports Activities
The first resolution involved approval of minutes from the previous meeting. The council also deliberated on proposals for developing and expanding sports activities. In alignment with the Government of India’s Khelo India policy, consensus was reached on strengthening sports facilities at the university and affiliated colleges, encouraging maximum student participation in sports competitions, and providing necessary sports amenities.
The objective is to promote sports culture among students and provide better opportunities for emerging athletic talent. A second resolution addressed prize money to be awarded to athletes winning first place in various all-India and northern-region inter-university sports competitions hosted by the university. The committee approved providing predetermined prize amounts to encourage athletes and honor outstanding sporting performances.
The meeting also discussed other important arrangements related to sports events and upcoming session activities. Key decisions were made to ensure expansion of sports facilities on campus, maximum student participation, and improved university performance in inter-university competitions.
Second Resolution: Two-Year Sports Achievement Report Presented
The second resolution involved presentation of the sports department’s annual report for the past two years. According to the report, university athletes achieved outstanding results across various national and inter-university competitions, including the Asian Games and AIU events, earning a total of 68 medals. This includes 32 gold, 23 silver, and 13 bronze medals.
The university distributed approximately ₹25 lakh in prize money to recognize athletes for their exceptional performances.

Golden Jubilee Achievements
During the university’s Golden Jubilee year, numerous significant projects and activities were undertaken in sports. The university’s multipurpose sports field was inaugurated by Honorable Governor Anandiben Patel. The field has been developed according to BCCI standards for cricket and is equipped with facilities for organizing football, hockey, and other sports.
A Sports Compendium documenting the sports department’s achievements and activities from the past five years was published and released by the university’s Chancellor. Additionally, the university’s sports policy was released during the 2026 convocation ceremony.
The university successfully organized the AIU Grappling Tournament with complete transparency. In the current academic year, the university has been given the opportunity to host North Zone men’s table tennis and women’s basketball competitions.
Comprehensive Sports Calendar for 2026-27
Third Resolution: Sports Calendar Released
As the third resolution, the university released the sports calendar for the 2026-27 academic year. Under the calendar, 57 sports competitions have been allocated for colleges affiliated with the university. Of these, 9 competitions will be organized at the Sports Complex on the university campus.
Through this calendar, various sports competitions throughout the academic session will be organized in a systematic and timely manner. The objective is to provide maximum competitive opportunities for athletes from the university and affiliated colleges and to expand the university’s sports activities.
University Leadership’s Vision
Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.P. Singh stated that the university views sports as an important medium for comprehensive student development. He emphasized that the university’s goal extends beyond mere participation in competitions—it aims to provide athletes with better training, modern sports facilities, and platforms for excellence at national and international levels.
Registrar Mahendra Kumar stated that the continuous expansion of sports activities at the university plays an important role in developing discipline, leadership, teamwork spirit, and healthy competition among students. He noted that through the 2026-27 sports calendar, sports activities at affiliated colleges will be made even more organized and comprehensive.

The meeting was attended by Registrar Mahendra Kumar, Controller of Examinations Dr. Anil Yadav, Sports Council Secretary Prof. S.S. Bedi, Additional Sports Secretary Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Assistant Secretary Prof. Ajit Singh, Prof. Vijay Sinhal, Campus Secretary Dr. Neeraj Kumar, Assistant Secretary Dr. Iram Naeem, Dr. Inderjeet Kaur, and other university officials, council members, and principals from affiliated colleges.

The resolutions passed and sports calendar released during the meeting are expected to give new momentum to the university’s sports activities and provide affiliated college athletes with increased competitive opportunities.
